PERCY JACKSON AND THE OLYMPIANS SERIES
Unlike Harry Potter, Percy Jackson and the Olympians directly references myth. The author, Rick Riordan, has put direct myths, Gods and Goddesses, monsters and heroes in these books. The books are about a young boy named Percy Jackson who finds out he is a demigod (Half mortal, half god). He ends up going to a place called Camp Halfblood and they have to go on a quest to battle the Titans, as well as some monsters along the way.
This story has many greek myths, but they are put into modern times. For instance, the entrance to the underworld is through the Hollywood Sign, and the entrance to Olympus is from the top of the Empire State Building. The author really tries to make the myths part of the story and you don't even realize you are learning so much valuable information about Greek Mythology.
